Understand your Unit Conversion result
A unit converter changes a value from one measurement unit to another. Use it for common length, weight, and temperature conversions without working through the formula by hand.

Choose the measurement category first
Length, weight, and temperature use different conversion rules. Start by selecting the category, then choose the unit you have and the unit you need.
For example, kilometres and miles measure distance, while kilograms and pounds measure weight. Converting between unrelated categories does not produce a meaningful result.
Temperature uses a different formula
Many length and weight conversions use a fixed multiplication factor. Temperature is different because Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin use different starting points as well as different scales.
That is why converting 20 Celsius to Fahrenheit is not done by simply multiplying 20 by one fixed number. Use the temperature option when a formula needs to account for the scale.
Round for the situation
A travel distance may be clear enough when rounded to one or two decimal places, while a recipe, construction task, or scientific measurement may need a specific level of precision.
Keep the original units visible when you record the answer. This makes it easier to check a conversion later and prevents confusing a converted value with the source value.
